Foodies Flock to Chelsea Market, for Feast Benefitting the Anne Saxelby Legacy Fund

TEXT BY SCOTT STIFFLER and PHOTOS COURTESY OF THE ANNE SAXELBY LEGACY FUND | The Anne Saxelby Legacy Fund (ASLF) was founded in 2021 following the passing of well-regarded Anne Saxelby, founder of Cheesemongers in NYC. As a fitting nod to the fund’s “Legacy” aspect, ASLF provides monthlong immersive apprenticeships for students to live on sustainable farms—emerging with the knowledge and skills to fulfill ASLF’s wish that they effect “positive change in their communities and beyond.”

A September 19, 2024 event—the third annual benefit whose proceeds went to the ASLF—saw Chelsea Market populated by over 130 of Anne’s favorite chefs, artisans, and mixologists preparing sustainable dishes and cocktails from individual kiosks. Featured areas this year included a “Salumeria” with Cesare Casella, Tempesta Artisans, and Smoking Goose; a “Sweet Retreat” headed up by acclaimed pastry chef Caroline Schiff; and a Pasta Tour located at La Devozione. The evening also included a silent auction and raffle featuring exclusive chef experiences.
