10th Precinct Community Council Meeting: Wednesday, January 28, 7pm, via Zoom | Having assumed Commanding Officer duties late last year, one of the general public’s all-too-rare opportunities to meet CO Capt. Timothy Wong (and pose questions) happens as he represents the 10th Precinct at January 28’s Community Counci meeting. Organized and moderated by Council President Larry O’Neill, this monthly citizen-run event features a Q&A session, with the Commanding Officer normally in attendance to provide answers. Early Voting Through Feb. 1, for State Senate District 47 Special Election | With Brad Hoylman-Sigal having become the Manhattan Borough President as of January 1, 2026, a Special Election has been called to fill his vacant State Senate seat. That area of coverage–New York’s 47th District–includes portions of Chelsea, Greenwich Village, Hell’s Kitchen, and the Upper West Side.

Early Voting began on January 24 and continues through February 1, leading up to Election Day on February 3. On the ballot: NYC District 3 Council Member Erik Bottcher (the Democratic and Working Families candidate) and Republican candidate Charlotte Friedman. For more info, click here.

Manhattan Community Board Applications Accepted Through February 27 | Newly installed Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal (MBP) has already embarked upon one of his marquee responsibilities: Appointing new members to Manhattan community boards. “I served on my local community board for over a decade and deeply appreciate the importance they serve to the local planning process, budget priorities, and city services. I hope you’ll consider serving, too,” said the MBP in a January 21 email to constituents. In order to be considered for appointment, a complete application must be submitted online or postmarked by no later than 5pm on Friday, February 27, 2026. Click here to access the application.
