Today in Chelsea: Wednesday, May 15, 2019

Community Board 4’s Transportation Planning Committee (TPC) Meeting | From more affordable housing to more schools, parks, hospitals, safe transportation, less noise, better business balance, and preserving the diversity of our neighborhood character, the 50 members of CB4 volunteer to represent the district’s residents, institutions, nonprofit and businesses’ common interests to City agencies, and bring solutions to the district.

Regarding the Committee: The TPC reviews application for street closures and permits for anything that is placed on the sidewalks, such as newsstands or phone booths. It also advocates for better maintenance of streets and sidewalks and improved transit services, and works with the Department of Transportation to consider changes in parking regulations, street design and traffic patterns. It does also consider applications for No honking and Street name signs.

On the May 15 agenda:

–Presentation: Port Authority to present on parapet walls project

–Presentation/Vote: Department of Transportation to present on bus enhancements along the 14th St. Corridor

–Presentation: Muñoz Engineering to Present on Gansevoort Reconstruction Project on 9th Ave.

–Presentation/Vote: Newsstand Application for N/E/C 42nd St. and 9th Ave.

–Discussion: Turn restriction on W. 25th St. and 7th Ave.

–Old/New Business: Success Academy, on making 41st St. and 10th Ave. intersection safer for school crossings
