Geraldine Page Centennial Celebration: A Screening Series at Torn Page (435 W. 22nd St. btw. 9th & 10th Aves.) / Tuesdays at 7pm on November 26, December 3, 10, 17, and January 7 & 14.  | As our arts reporter Trav S.D. observed of Geraldine Page in this preview piece, “The widely respected stage and screen actress, who passed away in 1987, would be turning 100 this coming November 22. To mark the occasion, Torn Page, the family-run arts space located in Page’s former West 22nd Street apartment, will be presenting eight Tuesday night film screenings from November 12 through January 14—the perfect antidote, one thinks, to very challenging times. . .

Remarkably, Page was nominated for an Oscar for each of the eight films presented in this series. The film for which she won a Best Actress Oscar, The Trip to Bountiful (1985), will lead off on November 12. Also screening in the series will be The Pope of Greenwich Village (1985), the early Franis Ford Coppola film You’re a Big Boy Now (1966) featuring Page’s husband, Rip Torn, Woody Allen’s Interiors (1977), the 1972 Walter Matthau-Carol Burnett team-up Pete ‘n’ Tillie, Tennessee Williams’ Sweet Bird of Youth (1962) also with Torn, Williams’ Summer and Smoke (1961), and the 1953 John Wayne western Hondo. Each film in the series will open with remarks by a colleague who had worked with Page, who won two Emmys and two Golden Globes, and was nominated for four Tonys. The Green Room, a Live Music and Arts Series at Verdi Cannabis (158 W. 23rd St. btw. 6th & 7th Aves.) | Having opened in January, legal cannabis distributor Verdi Cannabis gets down to the business of regular event programming. “We are doing this to bring the community together through music, arts, and cannabis; to make Verdi a safe, comfortable, fun place for people to come to and experience culture,” says Green Room co-curator Kenny Cunningham.

November’s roster is as follows: Friday, 11/29, DANKSGIVING is the Green Room Live Music Series Takeover by Dank. Music from IRIEspect, 7pm-9:30pm. Saturday, 11/23, celebrate the official launch of clothing and lifestyle brand Amsterdam 2 Brooklyn, from Verdi’s own Rich Perez.

Currently on the walls at Verdi is the work of Chris Capaci, self-described as “a Jersey City resident since 2010” who has “dedicated over 20 years to the arts of both photography and video.” His subject matter includes portraits of people, food and cocktails, natural landscapes, and bustling city streets.
