BY SCOTT STIFFLER | Sunday, June 29, 11am: Taking off from 26th Street to make its way down 5th Avenue, through the Village to Christopher Street, then up Seventh Avenue, the sprawling annual expression of all things LGBTQIA+ known as the NYC Pride March–whose 2025 theme is “Rise UP”–will wind down in Chelsea.

That means a shortly lived but significant population explosion for the neighborhood, as March participants and supportive spectators mill about after dispersing along side streets and avenues closed to vehicular traffic. According to information on the NYC Department of Transportation’s website (click here to view it), the following locations will be closed for June 29’s NYC Pride March “at the discretion of the NYPD in Manhattan.”

Formation Area: 5th Avenue between 25th & 33rd Streets; West 25th Street between 5th & 6th Avenue; and West/East 26th through 33rd Streets between 6th Avenue and Madison Avenue

The Pride March Route: 5th Avenue between 25th Street and 8th Street; West 8th Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue; Greenwich Avenue between 6th Avenue and Christopher Street; Christopher Street between Greenwich Avenue and 7th Avenue South; and 7th Avenue between Christopher Street and 16th Street

The Dispersal Area: 7th Ave. between 15th & 19th Streets; 16th & 18th Streets between 8th & 6th Aves.; and 17th & 19th Streets between 9th & 6th Aves.
