Saturday, June 28, 5pm: Stepping off from Bryant Park with Washingon Square Park as its concluding destination, the 33rd Annual NYC Dyke March, its organizers note, functioned as “a protest March, not a parsade…a demonstration of our First Amendment right to protest” that takes place “without permits or sponsors. We recognize that we must organize among ourselves to fight for our rights, safety, and visibility.” Thousands took to the streets, while others–citing an anti-semetic tone struck in advance–declined to participate in the event, whose theme was “Dykes Say No to Fascism!“
