With Brad Hoylman-Sigal having become the Manhattan Borough President as of January 1, 2026, a Special Election has been called to fill his vacant State Senate seat. That area of coverage–New York’s 47th District–includes portions of Chelsea, Greenwich Village, Hell’s Kitchen, and the Upper West Side. As of January 24, Early Voting begins, leading up to Election Day on February 3. On the ballot: NYC District 3 Council Member Erik Bottcher (the Democratic and Working Families candidate) and Republican candidate Charlotte Friedman.
