2026 Congressional Art Competition: Entries Accepted Through Friday, April 24 | It’s been happening at this time of year since 1982–the Call for Entries in a nationwide high school arts competition. Sponsored by members of the U.S. House of Representatives, the annual event has long been facilitated locally by Congressman Jerrry Nadler (currently in his final term of our 12th District elected). Art works may be in the form of paintings, drawings, collage, prints, mixed media, and photography. Students should enter the competition in the district they reside, not where they attend school. “The overall winner of our district’s competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol,” notes Nadler’s office, For more of the particulars involved with submitting a contest entry (by April 24), see the flyer directly below–and click here for the applicable page on Congressman Nadler’s website.

Curating America: Art, Society, and Influence | A Free Public Event on April 30, at The Refectory at Vanderbilt University NYC (Entrance: 429 W. 20th St.) | Reception from 6pm to 7pm and Event from 7pm to 8pm | Vanderbilt University NYC–whose inaugural class of undergraduate students will arrive on campus in mid–August–is set to host this examination of the cultural contributions that make Chelsea world-renowned destination for lovers, curators, and creators of art. As the descriptive text for their April 30 event notes, “Long a rich, cultural site of exhibitions, performances and shows that galvanize, challenge and stir audiences, with our next public discussion, we spotlight Chelsea’s talented arts leaders and the conversations they engender.” This formidable assemblage of talent set to participate in a lively panel discussion includes Cecilia Alemani (Donald R. Mullen Jr. Director & Chief Curator, The High Line) and Engell Speyer (Family Senior Curator and Associate Director of Curatorial Programs, Whitney Museum of American Art).
