BY ELIZABETH ZIMMER | In 2012, Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company took over Dance Theater Workshop’s space at 219 W. 19th St., and Jones’s energy has powered it ever since. Now called New York Live Arts, it is a producer and presenter of the new Can You Bring It. On Nov. 19 at 8pm, the company will present a global, virtual recreation of Arnie Zane’s pioneering 1977 work Continuous Replay, expanded in 1991 into a full company work and developed this summer, across four continents and in isolation, into a streamed premiere of a version of the dance.
Continuous Replay: Come Together features a cast of 44 current and former company members from the past four decades. Co-director Rosalynde LeBlanc and other figures from the new documentary Can You Bring It: Bill T. Jones and D-Man in the Waters will perform in this piece, to be screened as a benefit for three organizations led by Black women (Black Strategy Fund, The Brotherhood/Sister Sol (Bro/Sis), and Buy From A Black Woman), and preceded by a conversation between Jones and Anthony D. Romero, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union.
Premieres Thurs, Nov. 19 at 8pm. Free, with RSVP or option to donate. To do either, click here.
