April 24-26: Housing Works’ 15th annual Design on a Dime NYC | Bringing together over 70 nationally recognized interior designers who will create one-of-a-kind room vignettes from donated merchandise that represents over 700 brands, everything is for sale at 50-80% off, and all proceeds benefit Housing Works’ mission to end AIDS and homelessness.

Wed., April 24, 6pm, the Groundbreaker Awards Dinner takes place. April 27 in-store event: Books of Wonder | ‪This cozy, independent children’s book store (with Chelsea and Upper West locations) sells new, old, and rare books and art, and offers semiweekly storytime and a full calendar of in-store author reading events.

Sat., April 27, 4-6pm at the 18th St. store, authors George O’Connor (Hephaistos: God of Fire) and Mike Cavallaro (Nico Bravo and the Hounds of Hades), take young readers on an adventure with the gods. Hear about Hephaistos’s adventures as a weapons maker and Nico Bravo’s attempt to save the world. Help Books of Wonder celebrate the release of these two amazing books, as the authors give a talk and sign copies of all their books. This event is appropriate for ages 8-12.

April 24: 10th Precinct Community Council | Let your community policing issues be heard, at this monthly meeting where Chelsea residents can hear the latest crime stats, ask questions, and get public safety tips. The meeting is normally helmed by the Precinct’s Commanding Officer, Capt. Kevin J. Coleman; the Council president is Larry O’Neill. The Tribeca Film Festival: April 24-May 5 | A reliable source of compelling documentaries, world premiere feature films, virtual reality experiences, and special events, this festival, which began as way to bolster its namesake neighborhood after the events of 9/11, always has a strong presence in Chelsea. This year, the SVA Theatre (333 W. 23rd St. btw. 8th & 9th Aves.) hosts a number of notable screenings.
