BY SCOTT STIFFLER | Who needs snark when you have an abundance of sweetness? Who needs to be cocky when carry yourself with such confidence?

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 9 contestant Shea Couleé slayed at West 42nd Street’s Laurie Beechman Theatre last night, with a candid bio show that “RuVealed” intimate details on growing up, and growing into her own—eliciting cheers, laughs, gasps, and a tear or two.

Songs from the Britney, Whitney, Brandy, and Chaka Khan catalog (lip synched or live) were thematic partners to tales of childhood visits to the beauty parlor as a precursor to finding her own community, coming out during a family viewing of Desperate Housewives, doing drag for the very first time, and making it to Drag Race.

The performance even saw an unplanned “career first” wardrobe malfunction that could have become a crisis but, in Couleé’s capable hands, was handled with aplomb—further endearing her to an audience who responded with a well-earned standing ovation at the end of an evening that left us wanting more.

Two more shows left; Sat. and Sun., 7pm. Highly recommended.
