This Week In & Around Chelsea: June 29-July 5, 2026

Here’s What’s Happening This Week

Free Outdoor Events in Bella Abzug Park / Bike Helmet Giveaway  / NOT the Full Board Meeting of MCB4 / Free FIFA Shuttle Service / Down to Earth Farmers Market Chelsea

Free Outdoor Events in Bella Abzug Park (524 W. 34th St. btw. 10th & 11th Aves.) | With July practically upon us and the weather heating up, the roster of free events and activities offered annually by the Hudson Yards Hell’s Kitchen Alliance (HYHK) is back to firing on all burners. From music to movies to mindful movement, there’s something for every age and inclination. Now through October, instructors from Bien Good Well lead yoga classes at 5pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, as well as mat pilates, Saturdays at 10:30am. To register, click here . On select Thursdays and Saturdays, Vinyl Nights is a DJ dance party that gets you moving to the grooves that defined NYC in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.  For the kids, Mike Messer Music offers acoustic concerts on Tuesday mornings. Click here to visit the HYHK Event Calendar, where you’ll find info on all of their free programming.

Free Bike Helmet Giveaway: Tuesday, June 30, 11am to 2:30pm at Mathews-Palmer Playground (445 W. 45th St. btw. 9th & 10th Aves.) | The NYC Department of Transportation is partnering with District 3 Council Member Carl Wilson to equip you with the well-fitting protective headgear you need while navigating the city on two wheels. Over the years, this free service has provided 350,000 bike helmets to New Yorkers. Supplies are limited, though, so please RSVP. To do so, click here.

The Full Board Meeting of Manhattan Community Board 4 (MCB4): Wednesday, July 22, 6:30pm Online via YouTube & Zoom and In-Person at Mount Sinai West (1000 10th Ave.,  2nd Floor Conference Room B) | July 1 would normally merit an event listing for the monthly meeting of MCB4. Normally held on the first Wednesday of the month, an exception is made annually when the July/August installments merge into a single occasion—-and this year, July 22 is the date for that happening.

Otherwise, it’ll be business as usual for the Full Board, as the collective membership hears from the public, votes on letters sent to them by individual committees, and welcomes guest speakers (such as local electeds or members of their staff).  To attend via Zoom and sign up for a 2-minute speaking slot during the Public Session, click here. To view it via livestreaming on their YouTube channel, click here,  To visit the MCB4 website, click here.

On FIFA World Cup Match Days, 34th & 42nd Streets Become Bus & Stadium Shuttle Corridors | As NYC continues to find itself with a major case of that other kind of football fever, efforts are being made to mitigate traffic. Official NYNJ Stadium shuttle buses will provide non-stop express service for ticketholders to and from Manhattan and the NYNJ Stadium in New Jersey on June 30 and July 5 & 19. Click here for more information.

Down to Earth Farmers Market Chelsea: Saturdays, 9am-2pm on West 23rd St. off Ninth Ave. | April saw the welcome return of this opportunity to eat well, while supporting local vendors. See the below flyer for details. To sign up for the Market’s email newsletter (sent every Thursday),click here.
