Oct. 28’s Assembly District 75 Candidate Forum to Focus on Chelsea Concerns

BY SCOTT STIFFLER | The upcoming race to succeed retiring New York State Assembly Member Richard Gottfried will be one for the history books, as–for the first time in 52 years–a new name is added to the sequential list of NYS Assembly District 75 reps. Gottfried’s December 13, 2021 announcement that this current term would be his last saw a flurry of Democrat hats thrown into the ring, for a one-time high of eight.  Emerging from  June 28, 2022’s Primary Election as the Democratic Candidate was Tony Simone. Also on the ballot in the Assembly District 75 race is Joseph A. Maffia, running as a Republican and also as the Arts  & Culture candidate.

Both candidates were quick to accept an invitation from Chelsea Community News (CCNews) to meet via Zoom on the evening before Early Voting starts, for a (don’t call it a “debate”!) Candidate Forum whose questions are culled from five co-presenters who represent the interests of Chelsea voters. Below, find all of the essential information. Please consider sharing it, and please consider attending.

For those whose interest is sparked but cannot attend in real time, Chelsea Community News will be posting a recording of the event on our YouTube channel shortly after it takes place. If you seek more information, send an email to CCNews’ founder/editor, via scott@chelseacommunitynews.com.

What You’ll Find at Our Forum:

The race to succeed retiring New York State Assembly Member Richard Gottfried will be determined by the results of November 8’s General Election. One day before Early Voting begins, Chelsea Community News and a group of co-presenters committed to the neighborhood’s betterment will bring together the two whose names are on the ballot to determine the new Assembly District 75 rep.

Moderated by Inge Ivchenko (president, LTTA) and coordinated by CCNews founder/editor Scott Stiffler, candidates Joseph A. Maffia and Tony Simone will make the case for their candidacy via opening and closing statements, answering questions from our co-presenters that reflect their top concerns, and staying on point and on pace during our “Yes/No” Lightening Round.

EARLY VOTING is Saturday, October 29 to Sunday, November 6

ELECTION DAY is Tuesday, November 8
